Understanding Employee Productivity Analytics

Interpret activity indicators without confusing them with work quality.

Know what each metric represents

Productivity analytics often summarise active time, idle time or tool usage. Before using a report, ask how each metric is calculated and what it excludes. Meetings, reading and work away from a monitored device can complicate interpretation. A useful report should be understood by the people who make decisions from it.

Avoid comparing unlike roles

A support role and a design role may have very different activity patterns. Compare records only where expectations and context are meaningfully similar. Discuss patterns within a role rather than assuming one organisation-wide benchmark reflects everyone’s contribution.

Use analytics to guide questions

A change in activity can prompt a conversation about workload, blockers or tools. It should not automatically trigger a judgement about effort. Combine reports with completed work and employee feedback to understand what changed and whether an intervention would help.

Agree a review routine

Choose a reporting period and a small set of questions that managers can answer consistently. Review the measures when workflows change. Ask TrackEye to demonstrate available employee and team reports, and confirm the definition of each metric before adding it to your management routine.
